The Matte Production Complex And The Small Mercantile Production In Santa Catarina, Brazil [complexo Ervateiro E A Pequena Produção Mercantil Em Santa Catarina]

The small mercantile production is described and analyzed within the matte production complex in the state of Santa Catarina, Brazil, especially in the municipalities of Mafra, Canoinhas and Porto União from the last decades of the 19th century to 1945. Forwarded by the theoretical introduction, the essay is divided into four topics: (1) the occupation and colonization process in the north plateau of Santa Catarina from the final decades of the 19th century till the establishment of immigrant colonies; (2) a general view of the industrial processing of the matte and the constitutive factors of a regional agrarian and mercantile complex; (3) the presence and insertion of the small mercantile production of the matte complex in the three mentioned municipalities; (4) short final conditions of the whole process.
